New Student Welcome Meet the Counselor Game Getting to Know You Questions Group
Discover the Perfect Tool for New Students! Imagine a card game that makes meeting the school counselor fun and engaging. With our New Kids on the Block Card Game, elementary school students can enjoy get-to-know-you activities through conversation cards and exciting tumble blocks. Use these discussion starters to break the ice and create memorable connections.
Lesson Details and Activities:
This resource includes 54 unique get-to-know-you cards, divided into three categories: Questions about School, Questions about the Student, and Fun Impressions & Movement Cards.
To set up, print the card fronts and backs on sturdy cardstock. Align the green card back with the green card front, and the same for blue and purple cards. Number a set of tumble blocks from 1 to 3 and stack them. As students draw a block, they select and answer a corresponding card before placing the block on top of the tower. Play continues until the tower tumbles, adding an element of excitement.
Here are some examples of the questions you'll find in the three categories:
- Questions about School:
- What is the name of your teacher?
- What are our school colors?
- Name one person you have met at our school.
2. Questions about the Student:
- How many brothers & sisters do you have?
- What is your favorite food to eat?
- What is your favorite color?
3. Fun Impressions & Movement:
- Hop on one foot the number of years old you are.
- Spin as many times as your grade in school.
- Pat your head and rub your stomach at the same time.
