Standardized Testing Prep, Test-Taking Skills & Strategies Magical ESCAPE ROOM Lesson
Welcome, young wizards! Merlin needs your help. The words in his spell book have disappeared. You will need to decipher clues, unlock enchanted puzzles, and collect essential items in an exciting ESCAPE ROOM LESSON. Learn lessons on test preparation, effective test-taking strategies, and post-test reflections. Unlock invaluable test-taking skills along the way!
You will work together in small groups. Your first task lies in finding the the Preparation Potion. Here, you will face a series of statements, each testing your knowledge of how to prepare BEFORE the test. Determine if the statements are true or false, and use the Secret Decoder to solve the puzzle.
Next, your quest is to find the Quill of Knowledge. Use the Code Cracker to decode the Wizards' Suggestions and fill in the blanks with the missing words, unlocking the secrets of what to do DURING the test.
But the journey does not end there, young wizards. To collect the Crystal Ball of Clarity, you will assemble a puzzle and decipher codes with each statement for what to do AFTER the test. Uncover the secrets of reviewing your test before turning it in!
Finally, armed with the items Merlin requested, you will face the ultimate challenge: the Final Puzzle of Unscrambling. Use the items to unravel the sentence and restore the words to Merlin's book!
Wrap up your Escape Room Adventure with a review on the slideshow. Complete a Magical Test Mastery Color-by-Code activity and take home a Merlin’s Magical Test Mastery Tips Poster to reinforce your test-taking skills.

***This Escape Room Lesson does require prep work of printing, cutting, and assembling the team puzzle packets, but it is well worth seeing your students working together to accomplish their escape!!! Plus, the prep work and assembly are done only once. Use this escape room lesson year after year!
